Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby Counites is excited to open their second ReStore at the Sidney Foodtown Plaza located at 1024 Wapakoneta Avenue. The hours will mirror the Troy location (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed Sundays and Mondays).

A Habitat ReStore sells used furniture, doors, windows, lighting, cabinets, vanities, hardware, appliances, home decor, new paint supplies, and recycled pre-mixed paint at reasonable prices, and much more. The Habitat ReStore is open to all: individuals and families, non-profits, landlords, college students, and collectors.

Gently used donations can be dropped off during business hours by driving to the rear of the building to the Donation Center door. Large items can be scheduled for pick up by calling 937-703-9683. Proceeds from the ReStore support the programming in Miami and Shelby County.

SHELBY COUNTY SAFETY COUNCIL INFORMATION:

What is the Shelby County Safety Council? The Shelby County Safety Council is a program of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Division of Safety & Hygiene and the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

The Division of Safety & Hygiene is funded by a small portion (1%) of employer Workers’ Compensation premiums. The funding provides for a number of direct and indirect services available to employers. The goal of the Shelby County Safety Council is to help reduce employers workers’ compensation premiums by enhancing worker safety and health.

Membership in the Shelby County Safety Council enables organizations to take advantage of the savings afforded by eliminating or reducing workplace injuries and illnesses. Participation will show safety leaders how to increase productivity, improve morale and impact their company’s bottom line.

When/Where Does the Council Meet? Monthly meetings are typically held the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Health’s Professional Building, Lower Level Conference Rooms. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Chamber of Commerce at (937) 492-9122 or-mailing Dawn Eilert at deilert@sidneyshelbychamber.com two weeks prior to an upcoming meeting. Meeting reminders will be sent to members via e-mail approximately one week prior.

What are the Annual Dues? Dues are $120.00 for Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce members and $250.00 for non-Chamber membesr. Dues pre-pary meals for one attendee (of company's choice) to attend all meetings for one year (12 meetings. The Shelby County Safety Council year runs from July 1 of the current year through June 30 of the following year. Guests may attend any meeting at a cost of $10.00 (unless otherwise noted). Checks shoudl be made payable to teh Shelby County Safety Council.

Are there requirements? Members are required to fill out a new enrollment form which is returned to the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce to be sent on to the Division of Safety & Hygiene. The council receives funding from the Division of Safety & Hygiene based on the number of companies that attend monthly meetings.

Workforce Partnership of Shelby County is proud to announce our 4th annual Workforce Signing Event. Please join us as we celebrate the newest members of the local workforce and our future leaders. Student participants will have completed the Career Coach program, Upper Valley Career Center apprenticeship program, or work-release through their local high school program. In addition, we will recognize the recipients of our Career Launch scholarships and CNA Certification scholarships. These scholarship awards are a result of the Industry Sector Partnership grant received from Ohio’s Office of Workforce Transformation.

As a not-for-profit organization, WP represents 50 private businesses dedicated to building Shelby County’s workforce pipeline. Our mission is to align industry and education to prepare students with the skills needed by local employers. Our efforts focus on workforce readiness and career exploration, with a goal to expose students to local in-demand careers and attract talent to fill these jobs. This industry-led organization drives curricula and exploration activities in the classrooms, provides individualized career coaching, and coordinates targeted networking and recruitment events that help to accomplish our mission.

The Shelby County Human Resources Council is comprised of Human Resources Professionals whose business is based in Shelby County.

Statements of Mission and Purpose

1. To establish personal and professional communications between human relations personnel within commerce and industry.

2. To share growth oriented and problem resolution successes and ideas in “roundtable”.

3. To provide a forum to address human relations issues and concerns of mutual interest.

4. To provide training and educational programming to promote sound human relations management.

5. To conduct and compile a biennial wage and benefits survey for the benefit of Council members.

Meeting Details:
There are monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month at 12:00 Noon (except November and December), typically at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites (if there is a different meeting location, that information will be sent in monthly meeting reminder e-mail). Reservations should be made by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 492-9122, e-mailing Kennedy Goubeaux at kgoubeaux@sidneyshelbychamber.com or registering online at www.sidneyshelbychamber.com under Upcoming Events several days prior to an upcoming meeting (meeting reminders will be sent out via e-mail approximately two weeks prior).

Annual Dues:
The annual dues are $130.00 per Chamber member. Businesses must be a member of the Chamber of Commerce to participate in this council. This dues amount prepays your meals for one attendee (of your choice) to attend all HRC meetings for the year (typically 12 meetings). The HRC year runs from March of the current year through February of the following year. Additional guests may attend any of the meetings at a cost of $10.00 (unless otherwise noted).

Join Samaritan Works May 22nd at 4:00 p.m. for a ribbon cutting at their new graduate house. This Level 1 Graduate house is part one of their expansion project funded by One Ohio Foundation, and will house five graduates who have completed at least six months in a Level 2 or higher sober living program.

Hot dogs, chips and bottled water will be provided.

Parking is limited on South Miami, however, guests can also park on South Street.
